IRVINE , California   ( Mar 24, 2003 ) :

Toshiba America Business Solutions (TABS) today introduced the new e-STUDIO160, 200 and 250 series, integrating copy, print, fax and scan capabilities with unmatched image quality and breakthrough affordability in a single, high-performance, multifunction system. Optimal for small to mid-sized companies and workgroups, the new e-STUDIO160, 200 and 250 series builds upon Toshiba's highly successful multifunction digital imaging series launched in 2002 - the e-STUDIO16s, 20s and 25s - and improves it with enhanced features to significantly reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) compared to the purchase of a stand-alone copier, printer, fax machine and scanner device.

With optional network-connectivity capabilities, the e-STUDIO160, e-STUDIO200 and e-STUDIO250 digital imaging systems offer an expandable, open architecture in a compact, modular design, allowing growing businesses to create a highly scalable, customized imaging system that can be easily adapted to effectively meet evolving document processing and business needs.

"With the introduction of the new e-STUDIO160, e-STUDIO200 and e-STUDIO250, businesses now have access to an all-in-one, highly functional and affordable imaging solution that offers the flexibility and reliability in demand in today's cost and efficiency-conscious business world," said Mark Mathews, vice president, Marketing. "By offering copy, print, fax and scan capabilities, combined with advanced image quality, user-friendly features and state-of-the-art digital technology at the most competitive price available on the market today, Toshiba is providing an undisputed value to help businesses make the most of their bottom line."

Dynamic Digital Copying and Document Handling Features

The e-STUDIO160 has a monthly copy volume of 20,000 impressions and delivers a First Copy Out Time (FCOT) of 7.9 seconds from memory, and produces copies at a fast 16 pages-per-minute (PPM). To effectively manage heavy workloads and paper volumes, the e-STUDIO200 has a rated monthly volume of up to 35,000 impressions, while the e-STUDIO250 boasts a rated volume of 50,000 copies per month. The e-STUDIO200 and e-STUDIO250 blaze through pages at 20 PPM and 25 PPM respectively with FCOT of 6 seconds from memory. All three models offer 600 x 600 dpi resolution and a 256-level gray scale for clear, sharp and accurate reproductions of photographs and graphics, and 32 MB of image memory (expandable to 160 MB).

Each model can handle maximum paper sizes of 11 x 17 inches with advanced digital copying features such as scan once/copy many to increase overall productivity. All three models perform 2-in-1, 4-in-1, and 8-in-1 functions, enabling multiple pages to be reduced and copied onto one page for seamless archiving.

The e-STUDIO160, e-STUDIO200 and e-STUDIO250 are available with a standard 550-sheet paper cassette. Additional options for the e-STUDIO160 include a 550-sheet paper cassette tray or a 550-sheet pedestal to increase paper capacity to an ample 1,750 sheets. The e-STUDIO200 and e-STUDIO250 models offer an optional 550-sheet cassette paired with a 550-sheet pedestal, plus an optional 550-sheet drawer, or a 2,500-sheet large capacity tray, providing a total paper capacity up to 3,700 sheets.

Designed to support a range of business applications, all three models include an optional 100-sheet stack feed "smart" bypass tray that effortlessly accommodates a broad selection of media types, paper sizes and grades. For added functionality, convenience and value, the new e-STUDIO series offers standard advanced digital copying features such as edge erase, image shift and electronic sorting that automatically collates printed copies. Toshiba also offers optional trayless duplexing and a standard central output tray to eliminate the unnecessary space of an external hanging output tray.

Also available on the e-STUDIO series is an optional job separator, which automatically differentiates copy, fax and print jobs and a single position staple finisher (only available on e-STUDIO200/250), or convenience stapler, enabling finished sets to be assembled easily and quickly.

An optional 50-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) or an optional 100-sheet reversing automatic document feeder (RADF) that inverts a two-sided original for copying in duplex formats also are available.

Robust Array of Fax and Scanning Features

Featuring robust and powerful fax options, the e-STUDIO160, e-STUDIO200 and e-STUDIO250 offer optional walk-up fax, PC/LAN fax and Internet fax capabilities. To increase transmission speeds and attain superior image quality, Toshiba offers an optional fax kit that incorporates the latest industry standard for faxing - a SUPER G3 JBIG compression fax board and a 33.6 kbps modem that allows for fast document transmission (three seconds per page) and generates superior image quality.

PC/LAN faxing is made possible with ImageVision 2000 software, enabling faxes to be sent or received from any PC on the network through the fax modem, while Internet fax capabilities enable businesses to reduce long-distance telephone charges by using the Internet Fax Protocol.

To enable companies to further enhance efficiency, the new e-STUDIO line can act as TWAIN-compliant scanners, enabling users to scan and store documents into a workstation. Scanned documents also can be converted to electronic forms for editing, attaching the document to an e-mail or filing for archival purposes. In addition, a scan-to-e-mail feature allows users to send a scanned document or image via e-mail without the need for attachment to improve the dissemination of critical information.

Network-Connected Printing Solutions

To streamline the printing requirements of today's network-connected offices, the e-STUDIO160, e-STUDIO200 and e-STUDIO250 offer out-of-the-box, standard Windows GDI parallel printing. Patented smoothing technology delivers 1,200 x 600 dpi printing resolution for enhanced output resolution and unparalleled print quality. The network compatibility of the new e-STUDIO series allows users to print from their desktop and easily master duplex printing, watermarks and digital reproductions. In addition, the Web-based NetPanel Administration Utility allows administration, monitoring and configuration of the devices from anywhere on the network. Both PCL6 and Postscript Level 2 printing are standard with the optional printer kit.

Bringing reliability to a whole new level, the e-STUDIO160, e-STUDIO200 and e-STUDIO250 feature Toshiba's newly improved Preventive Maintenance program to minimize service intervals and transform the new e-STUDIO models into "service replaceable" process units. With Toshiba's Preventative Maintenance program, only a few components of the process unit are replaced during regular maintenance enabling the developer to last three times longer for a much lower cost-per-copy (CPC). In addition, an advanced paper path design reduces paper jams with a short paper path to improve overall reliability and minimize copier downtime.

The e-STUDIO160, e-STUDIO200 and e-STUDIO250 are available through Toshiba's nationwide network of dealers for the suggested list prices of $3,195, $3,695 and $4,295 (USD) respectively.
