TOSHIBA AMERICA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS, INC. RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF THE TOP 100 AGILE COMPANIES IN CIO MAGAZINE'S 2004 CIO 100 AWARDS
IRVINE , California ( Aug 16, 2004 ) :
IDG's CIO magazine today announces Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc. (TABS) as a recipient of the 2004 CIO 100 award. The annual award program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology. This year's theme is the "Agile 100," which recognizes those executives and organizations that respond quickly to changing business environments. Winners demonstrate measurable results in how they used IT to enable and support agility in their organizations.
"With the economy rebounding, companies will seek out and capitalize on new opportunities as they emerge," says Abbie Lundberg, editor-in-chief, CIO. "Those best positioned to succeed are the agile enterprises, able to move and change quickly; to create advantage in a world in flux. This year's CIO 100 winners have all the hallmarks: agile operations, technology, staffing and governance models. We celebrate their achievements and expect to see great things from them in the years ahead."
TABS was recognized by CIO for its broad Web-enabled communications applications and for demonstrating IT "Agility" in a number of business areas, including:
- TABS' partnerships with and/or acquisitions of competitive independent dealers/distributors, allowing TABS to quickly enter new geographic markets and convert competitive products to Toshiba.
- TABS' infrastructure and operations, allowing for quick and successful process conversion in strategic acquisitions, partnerships and growth initiatives.
- TABS' ability to quickly make decentralized and non-bureaucratic business decisions and its delegation of operational decisions to local management.
"Being included in the CIO 100 is a huge honor for all of us at Toshiba," said Richard K. Taylor, senior vice president, Sales, Marketing and Business Operations, TABS. "The year’s theme of 'Agility' could not be more appropriate for what is required for success in our industry, and we’re proud to be recognized for our ability to successfully move and grow in the directions needed to best serve our channel partners and our customers."
The 2004 CIO 100 Awards will be presented at The Broadmoor Hotel and Resort in Colorado Springs, Colo., on August 24 during the sixth annual CIO 100 Symposium® and Awards Ceremony.
About the CIO 100
The recipients of this year's CIO 100 award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their agile practices in both business and IT. Next, teams of CIO magazine editors and writers reviewed the applications in depth, looking for unique practices and substantial results. Finally, the teams met for a day-long meeting to debate the merits of each nominee and vote on the final 100.
To provide a vision of ever-changing business trends, the focus of the CIO 100 changes annually. Complete coverage of the 2004 CIO 100 Awards is featured in the August 15 issue of CIO magazine and at http://www.cio.com/.
