TOSHIBA AMERICA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS INCORPORATES ADVANCED COMMUNICATIONS CAPABILITIES INTO ITS MULTIFUNCTION PRODUCT LINE WITH THE E-STUDIO™350 and E-STUDIO450

New Digital Multifunction Devices Incorporate Toshiba's e-Bridge All-In-One Architecture For Seamless Copy, Print, Scan and Fax Integration

IRVINE , California   ( Jan 29, 2004 ) :

Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc. (TABS) today introduced the Toshiba e-STUDIO™350 and e-STUDIO450 digital multifunction devices built on Toshiba's original e-Bridge unified architecture. Toshiba's proprietary all-in-one e-Bridge technology enables monochrome copy, print, scan, fax and other networking capabilities on a single hardware platform, enhancing the communications capabilities of both paper and electronic documents and enabling easy network connections. Designed as an upgraded replacement to its successful predecessors, the e-STUDIO35/45, the e-STUDIO350/450 also offers a significantly larger touch screen control panel that feature simplified controls and bold icons for improved ease of use.

"The versatile multifunction capabilities of the e-STUDIO350/450 works well for small and mid-sized workgroups looking to increase efficiency without sacrificing modular features or expandability," said Steve Rhorer, director, Product Marketing for TABS. "And Toshiba's e-Bridge hardware platform has built networking capabilities into the core design, reducing hardware costs while improving features and functionality."

Next Generation Hardware Technology

The e-STUDIO350/450 features a network-ready architecture built on Toshiba's e-Bridge hardware platform. This new architecture provides Internet-ready, mobile/wireless-ready, and solution-ready technology for easy-to-use network connections anytime, from anywhere. For added user convenience, both models are compatible with all major network operating systems, including Windows 98, 2000, ME, XP, Novell Netware 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x and Mac O/S 8.6 or later.

Improved Control Panel

Twice the size of currently available standard control panels, the e-STUDIO350/450's improved touch screen control panel is even easier to use with new features, including oversized graphical icons and a 45-degree tilting capability, increasing ease of use for physically challenged individuals and flexibility in various light sources that may make it more difficult to read the LCD screen.

Copying and Printing Capabilities

Toshiba's new e-STUDIO350/450 multifunction digital devices produce 35 and 45 pages-per-minute (PPM) respectively. Designed for the mid-range market, the e-STUDIO350 has a monthly duty cycle of 120,000 copies while the e-STUDIO450 offers a monthly copy volume of up to 150,000. Both models deliver a first-copy-out-time (FCOT) of less than 3.9 seconds with only a 20-second warm-up time, and offer 2,400 x 600 dpi resolution for clear and sharp reproductions, 128 MB of image memory and 40 GB HDD.

The e-STUDIO350/450 also can handle a variety of paper types, including standard bond, transparencies and gummed labels, as well as paper sizes ranging from 5.5" x 8.5" to 11" x 17" with two standard 550 sheet drawers and a 100 sheet bypass. Further enhancing the e-STUDIO350/450's paper handling are an optional 550-sheet pedestal or drawer, a 2,500-sheet drawer and a variety of finisher offerings including multi-position stapling, hole punch, job separator and offset features.

Fax and Scanning Features

The e-STUDIO350/450 boasts a scan speed of .7 seconds-per-page, averaging 50 scans-per-minute, with a fax data transmission of approximately three seconds-per-page. Scan resolutions are offered at 150, 200, 300, 400 or 600 dpi, with memory transmission allowing 100 jobs with a maximum of 1,000 destinations and up to 400 destinations per job. Both models also offer scan-to-file, scan-to-e-mail and scan-to-e-filing, with 200 private e-filing user boxes and one public box.

The e-STUDIO350 and e-STUDIO450 are available through Toshiba's nationwide network of dealers for the suggested list price of $7,625 and $9,799 (USD) respectively.
