TOSHIBA AMERICA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS PREVIEWS NEW MULTIFUNCTION SERIES AT 2005 TOSHIBA NATIONAL DEALER MEETING
Superior Image Quality of the e-STUDIOTM520/600/720/850 Systems Hailed As Next Evolution of Black & White Performance
IRVINE , California ( Apr 21, 2005 ) :
Details on Toshiba's much anticipated e-STUDIO™ 520/600/720/850 multifunction series were previewed by Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. (TABS) during the general session of the 2005 Toshiba National Dealer Meeting held at the Ritz Carlton, Lake Las Vegas. The Toshiba e-STUDIO520, 600, 720 and 850 will offer a broad range of print speeds (52, 60, 72 to 85 pages-per-minute respectfully) and will feature exceptional image quality, enhanced security and robust paper handling features.
Building on the success of the current Toshiba e-STUDIO550/650/810, the new e-STUDIO520/600/720/850 series adds a fourth model, with the new line designed to meet the needs of a more diverse customer base. The speed ranges shared across the four models will provide ample choices for corporate departments, print on demand environments and centralized reprographics departments within major organizations. One major enhancement to the e-STUDIO520/600/720/850 series is its next generation e-BRIDGE single-board architecture, providing a single circuit board to control copying, printing, scanning and other functionality.
"We designed the e-STUDIO520/600/720/850 series with our customers in mind," said Mark Mathews, vice president, Marketing for TABS. "The range of options offered and ease-of-use functions built in will make this one of the most usable and reliable MFP series available - but it's the amazing black and white image quality that's really going to attract attention."
"You've Got To See It To Believe It" Image Quality
Output image quality was made a top priority with the e-STUDIO520/600/720/850 series, boasting 2,400 x 600 dpi. The e-STUDIO520, 600 and 720 all will feature a new high-speed, single-beam laser-imaging unit, while the e-STUDIO850 will use a dual laser-beam design - each designed to put the dots exactly where they're intended to be. All four models will include Toshiba's new Serial Filter, which render higher-fidelity grayscales for more deliberate shades of gray.
An eight-bit scanner also will produce excellent print outputs and ensures scanned images are clear when viewed on computer monitors. Additionally, a new dual speed paper handling system slows down the paper while it passes through the process-unit and makes up the speed elsewhere to maintain performance.
Unauthorized Access DENIED - Tight Security A Key Feature
Introduced to dealers as perhaps the most secure MFP offered today, the e-STUDIO520/600/720/850 will offer 1,000 Department Codes with 6-digit numeric passwords to prevent unauthorized access and accurately track system usage. An additional 10,000 user codes will allow businesses to provide role-based access with 10-digit alphanumeric passwords. Additionally, authentication features can prevent unauthorized document sending for scan-to-email users.
The available Scrambler Board option will utilize 128-bit encryption to encrypt data as it's written to the system's HDD, then decipher it as it's written to the laser-imaging unit, leaving the HDD useless if separated from the system. The optional Disk Data Overwrite option will write over data on the HDD up to seven times immediately after the HDD is done with the data - more than twice that required by the Department of Defense. To address the stringent privacy requirements of HIPAA for healthcare companies, the e-Filing feature can be disabled, preventing users from storing potentially sensitive documents on the hard disk drive.
Output and Paper Handling
Speed and performance are at the heart of the e-STUDIO520/600/720/850 series. All models will scan at 71 scans-per-minute at 600 dpi when copying, and 83 scans-per-minute at 300 dpi when scanning to file. The e-STUDIO850 will feature a first-copy-out-time (FCOT) of less than 3.5 seconds, with the e-STUDIO520, 600 and 720 close behind with a less than four second FCOT.
The four-drawer configuration will give these models a 2,100-sheet standard capacity, including the 100-sheet Smart Stack Feed Bypass. The optional 4,000-sheet front-loading external LCF will raise the overall system capacity to 6,100 sheets. Project efficiency will be further enhanced through the paper handling design that provides 100 percent duplex productivity, eliminating time lost while the system inverts the paper for double-sided imaging.
The Ultimate User Conveniences Built In
Several key features of the e-STUDIO520/600/720/850 series were designed for improved user convenience. A large ½ VGA LCD panel is accompanied by an oversized numeric keypad for greater ease-of-use. Also, the Toner-On-The-Fly feature will allow users to change the toner while the system is still running.
The e-STUDIO520, 600, 720 and 850 are scheduled for launch in the second quarter of 2005, with the planned addition of a fax feature coming in the third quarter.
