TOSHIBA AMERICA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS INC. SELECTED AS RECIPIENT OF CIO MAGAZINE'S 2005 CIO 100 AWARD FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR
Toshiba Recognized by CIO Magazine as One of the World’s Top 100 Bold Companies
IRVINE , California ( Aug 15, 2005 ) :
Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. (TABS) today announced that it has been honored by IDG’s CIO magazine with a CIO 100 award for the second consecutive year. This annual award program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT). This year’s award theme is the Bold 100, which recognizes those executives and organizations that embrace great risk for the sake of great reward.
“The Bold 100 honorees stand out because they have dared to take on risk for the chance of reward in an extremely conservative business climate,” said Abbie Lundberg, editor in chief, CIO. “The executives leading these organizations are smart, inventive and determined - I offer them my warmest congratulations.”
TABS was recognized by CIO magazine for adopting a bold approach to its overall business strategies by becoming quick to identify and act on new opportunities, being willing to risk capital on new ideas, and having a willingness to change. This was exemplified by TABS’ development of its Encompass Document Analysis Program, which represented a bold departure from the company’s traditional sales consulting tools. This six sigma-based process for analyzing a company’s document output fleet has enabled TABS customers to reduce the cost of their document production and improve productivity, while increasing TABS’ sales performance and the quality of the sales opportunities forecasted. TABS also was recognized for its strategy to increase its market presence in an increasingly competitive industry, where it implemented one of the most aggressive dealer acquisition strategies in the industry. Furthermore, in the areas of product development and technology, TABS has quickly reacted to ever-changing, more complex product technologies that necessitate complicated support requirements.
“It is a great honor to be recognized as a CIO 100 award-winner amongst such an impressive roster of companies,” said Randy Miller, chief information officer, TABS. “TABS focuses on implementing quick and creative responses to business challenges, and is committed to excellence in every product and every service we provide as a means of earning the confidence and loyalty of our customers.”
The 2005 CIO 100 awards will be presented at the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, Calif., on August 23 at the conclusion of the seventh annual CIO 100 Symposium® and Awards Ceremony.
About the CIO 100
The recipients of this year's CIO 100 award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their bold practices in both business and IT. Next, teams of CIO magazine editors and writers reviewed the applications in depth, looking for unique practices and substantial results. Finally, the teams met for a day-long meeting to debate the merits of each nominee and vote on the final 100.
To provide a vision of ever-changing business trends, the focus of the CIO 100 changes annually. Complete coverage of the 2005 CIO 100 awards will be in the August 15 issue of CIO magazine and available online at www.cio.com on August 15.
