TOSHIBA AMERICA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS INC.’S e-STUDIO™520, 600, 720 AND 850 MFPs EACH EARN BERTL’S 4-STAR AWARD
Toshiba’s Newest MFP Series Receives Coveted “Highly Recommended” Rating
IRVINE , California ( Jul 28, 2005 ) :
Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. (TABS) today announced that its e-STUDIO™520, 600, 720 and 850 multifunction products each have received the prestigious 4-Star Award from Business Equipment Research and Test Laboratories (BERTL™). The award also comes with BERTL’s “Highly Recommended” rating, which is strictly reserved for those devices that deliver a range of business-critical features and functions that are above average and provide potential buyers with a good return on investment.
“Earning BERTL’s 4-Star Award is both an honor and a testament to our commitment to providing reliable, user-friendly imaging devices,” said Mark Mathews, vice president, Marketing, TABS. “We are always very proud to earn the praise of well respected testing labs such as BERTL.”
High Praise From BERTL Analysts
BERTL, one of the leading independent test labs, publishes product evaluation reviews on several hundred copiers, printers, fax, multifunctional, color and production devices every year. Out of these hundreds of devices, only a small number qualify for the highly prestigious 4-Star Award.
The e-STUDIO520/600/720/850 evaluation received praise in several areas, with image quality being singled out by BERTL analysts as “one of the strong suits, producing clear, smooth, nicely defined images of text, photos or both.” With 2,400 x 600 dpi output, all four models include Toshiba’s new Serial Filter, which produces crisp, sharp text and line-art, while maintaining rich black fills.
The e-STUDIO520/600/720/850 also was recognized in the areas of ease of use and performance, with BERTL analysts commenting, the series “takes Toshiba’s departmental MFP range to a new dimension in terms of ease of use, output quality, functionality and paper handling capability, and, in the process, has become a strong contender in higher-ppm, front office market segments.”
Print speeds offered by the e-STUDIO520, 600, 720 and 850 are 52, 60, 72 and 85 pages-per-minute respectively, ensuring efficient document output. All models scan at 71 scans-per-minute at 600 dpi when copying, and 83 scans-per-minute at 300 dpi when scanning to file. The e-STUDIO850 features a first-copy-out-time (FCOT) of less than 3.5 seconds, with the e-STUDIO520, 600 and 720 close behind with a less than four second FCOT.
Tight Security Features
The e-STUDIO520/600/720/850 series incorporates numerous advanced security features, making it ideal for Departmental Office settings, Central Reprographics Departments (CRDs) and Print On Demand (POD) environments. BERTL noted that the series is one of the industry’s most secure MFPs on the market, saying that with the launch of the e-STUDIO520, 600, 720 and 850, “the company has also catapulted itself to a leading role in MFP security.”
The series offers 1,000 Department Codes to prevent unauthorized access and accurately track system usage. Ten thousand User Codes take it a step further by enabling role based access, allowing administrators to put limits on a particular function’s use or even lock out functions at an individual user level.
The new Disk Overwrite option available for the e-STUDIO520/600/720/850 series helps ensure document confidentiality by writing over any temporary data stored on the system’s hard disk drive (HDD) multiple times immediately after the system is finished processing the document. In fact, the Disk Overwrite kit exceeds the Department of Defense standards for data protection. The Scrambler Board option further encrypts all data written to the HDD utilizing 128-bit encryption, rendering any data on it virtually useless if separated from the system.
