TOSHIBA AMERICA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS INC. ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF ECOPY SCANSTATION OPEN PLATFORM SOFTWARE FOR ITS COMPLETE LINE OF E-STUDIO™ MULTIFUNCTION PRODUCTS

Toshiba to Display eCopy ScanStation Capabilities at AIIM ON DEMAND

IRVINE , California   ( May 17, 2005 ) :

Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. (TABS) today announced that eCopy's ScanStation Open Platform (OP) software is now available for Toshiba's entire line of e-STUDIO™ multifunction products (MFPs). First announced in a press release dated April 5, 2005, TABS joined the eCopy Ready Manufacturers Program to enhance its complete e-STUDIO MFP line. eCopy software enables Toshiba's e-STUDIO digital copiers to be transformed into comprehensive paper management solutions. In addition to copying, printing, scanning and faxing, e-STUDIO users now can easily scan documents directly to their enterprise content management (ECM) system, fax server or e-mail system for more efficient business processes and improved document security.

"Providing our customers with the ability to integrate the eCopy ScanStation OP into their fleet of Toshiba document management systems streamlines workflow processes and expands the capabilities of our e-STUDIO MFPs," said Michael Alpert, director of Document Solutions, TABS. "By incorporating paper-based information into the workflow, users can speed up business transaction cycles, increase collaboration and strengthen document security, thereby enhancing ROI on their digital copier investments."

The eCopy ScanStation OP consists of a small-format touch screen, keyboard and PC that easily attaches to any Toshiba e-STUDIO MFP. Depending on the e-STUDIO model, scans can be made in either color or black and white. Users can choose from several scanning options, including Scan and Mail, Scan and Fax, Scan to Desktop, Scan to Printer, and Scan to Document Management System. Custom "Scan to" buttons also can be created using the eCopy Quick Connect feature. Color documents are scanned with eCopy Xpert Compression Technology, which reduces file size by more than 99 percent of the original size without compromising image quality. Files can then easily be transmitted across a network, digitally stored and printed with superb text and image quality.

Seamless Enterprise Software Integration

Using eCopy's application connectors, the ScanStation OP software also integrates with more than 20 enterprise software applications, including EMC Documentum Enterprise Content Management Platform, Captaris RightFax and Microsoft Outlook. The connectors provide the same look and feel at the copier as the applications operating on the desktop, which reduces training and improves ease-of-use. TABS will provide its customers with eCopy's connectors as optional add-on modules to the eCopy Suite.

Key Customer Applications

TABS' customers in several specialty industries also will benefit from using the eCopy ScanStation OP. For example, in the healthcare industry, eCopy software allows users to quickly, easily and securely send paper-based information, such as patient health information, across an internal computer network or the Internet with privacy safeguards for HIPAA compliance. Similarly, publicly traded U.S. companies that are required to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) can use the ScanStation OP to ensure that all relevant paper-based documents are captured online and easily retrieved, ensuring timely response to SOX regulations. Other industries, such as law firms and title companies, also stand to benefit from the time and cost-savings achieved as a result of reduced reliance on couriers, the ability to scan and edit documents quickly and easily, and decreased document storage costs.

TABS will be demonstrating eCopy's ScanStation in conjunction with the e-STUDIO451c and e-STUDIO1050 at the 2005 AIIM ON DEMAND Conference and Exposition, held May 17-19, 2005 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. TABS will be located in booth #3625 in the convention center's Independence Hall.

The eCopy ScanStation will be available through Toshiba's nationwide network of dealers beginning May 20.
