TOSHIBA AMERICA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS INC. EARNS COMMON CRITERIA CERTIFICATION FOR 12 e-STUDIO MULTIFUNCTION PRODUCTS
Toshiba’s Imaging Systems Recognized for Conforming to Internationally Recognized High Standards for IT Security
IRVINE , California ( May 23, 2006 ) :
Strengthening its position as one of the office equipment industry’s leaders in providing the most advanced range of security offerings, Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. (TABS) is proud to announce that it has achieved Common Criteria Certification for 12 of its e-STUDIO™ multifunction products (MFPs). As the gold standard for IT security, this certification identifies TABS’ document imaging products as meeting the demands of the most security conscience consumer, corporation or government agency.
“Toshiba recognizes that security is one of the most important considerations for customers when purchasing document production equipment, especially in light of recent government mandates,” said Kay Fernandez, director of Product and Solutions Marketing for TABS. “Achieving Common Criteria Certification is a valuable signal to our customers that they are making a sound purchasing decision when they choose a Toshiba product. For companies in industries such as healthcare, legal, education and finance, it is essential that they select a product, such as a Toshiba e-STUDIO MFP, that enables them to adequately protect the integrity of confidential company and customer information.”
The Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme (CCEVS) was established by the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) and evaluates information technology products for conformance to certain security standards as based upon an internationally accepted methodology. After undergoing comprehensive testing, TABS received Evaluation Assurance Level Three (EAL3) certification for each of the following MFP series:
- The e-STUDIO520/600/720/850, offering an extensive range of security features and output speeds of 52, 60, 72 and 85 pages per minute (PPM) respectively;
- The e-STUDIO281c/351c/451c, featuring color, affordability and output speeds of 28, 35 and 45 PPM respectively;
- The e-STUDIO352/452, designed with an easy-to-use tilting touch panel and output speeds of 35 and 45 PPM respectively; and
- The e-STUDIO202L/232/282, touting a build-to-order design and speeds of 20, 23 and 28 PPM respectively.
Designed with the utmost security in mind, all 12 of TABS’ certified products feature an available Data Overwrite Kit to completely overwrite and erase all copy, print, scan and fax data that is temporarily written to the hard disk during job processing. The kit works by deleting all latent data on the hard disk drive, in addition to overwriting the actual data after completion of every job. The result is that, in the event of theft of the hard drive or unauthorized access to the device, potentially exposed data no longer exists.
Toshiba’s e-STUDIO MFPs are available through TABS’ nationwide network of dealers.
