TOSHIBA AMERICA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS INC. ANNOUNCES FIRST MONOCHROME MULTIFUNCTION PRODUCT WITH ADVANCED HIGH RESOLUTION LCD CONTROL PANEL

New e-STUDIO™901/1101/1351 Series Easily Meets High Volume Copying, Printing and Scanning Demands of Large Corporate Work Environments

IRVINE , California   ( Oct 30, 2006 ) :

Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. (TABS) today launched the e-STUDIO™901/1101/1351 series, a high-volume monochrome digital multifunction product (MFP) with optional network printing and scanning capabilities. Leveraging Toshiba’s technology leadership, the e-STUDIO901/1101/1351 gives users complete access to its network through a large 10.4” Super VGA TFT (thin film transistor) LCD remote Touch Screen Control Panel that sits above the copier at eye level. The series is TABS first MFP to incorporate Super VGA TFT technology, which enables a wider viewing angle plus higher resolution and contrast. With its massive 8,050 maximum paper capacity and extended drum life lasting up to two million copies, the e-STUDIO901/1101/1351 is designed for busy corporate environments with large workgroups of 30 or more.

“Increasing productivity is a top priority for our large corporate customers,” said Kay Fernandez, director, Product and Solutions Marketing, TABS. “With the introduction of the e-STUDIO901/1101/1351, TABS has created an all-in-one workhorse that provides maximum reliability and can accommodate multiple users, generating high-volume jobs simultaneously, with menus that are easy to navigate.”

Multifunction Printer, Copier and Scanner

The e-STUDIO901/1101/1351 boasts high print speeds up to 135 pages-per-minute (PPM), and its true 1200 dpi resolution produces exceptional image quality. The models are ideal for local or network printing and the “Print on Demand” Document Server allows both copy and print users to store jobs on its two 160GB HDDs for later retrieval. Users can even combine numerous stored documents to create a single job. In addition, the advanced paper handling options, high toner yields and impressive monthly copy volumes enable these models to keep up with the most demanding business environments.

A unique three-drawer large capacity feeder option features both ledger- and letter-size handling. This provides vertical market customers, such as legal or real-estate, with the paper sizes and orientation they need to get the job done. For those users who have large production demands with short deadlines, a “Connect Copy” option allows people to complete big jobs in half the time by joining two e-STUDIO901/1101/1351 units together using a simple, low-cost cable.

Also unique to the e-STUDIO901/1101/1351, the 100-sheet Reversing Automatic Document Feeder scans both black and white and color originals at an equal speed of 80PPM and includes a scan-to-email feature for network scanning needs. Additionally, the e-STUDIO901/1101/1351 allows users to scan multiple jobs into memory, and the large TFT LCD panel shows the jobs queue while the system estimates the time it will take to complete each one, so downtime is kept to a minimum.

Finishing Options

Advanced finishing options help users to create professional looking presentations and booklets quickly, easily and at a fraction of the price of what outsourcing the project would cost. Finishing features include 100-sheet stapling, user selectable 2/3 hole punch, a saddle stitch option for booklet making and a Z-folding feature. The Z-folding option allows individual ledger-size pages to be incorporated into bound letter-size documents. A unique, two-tray Interposer features two insert trays that hold 200 sheets each, allowing users to put pre-printed covers in one tray and inserts in another.

Besides the standard saddle stitch option, there also is a production booklet maker for higher finishing demands. The option from Plockmatic of Sweden, provides greater sheet capacity (30 pages versus 15), plus includes options for trimming cover feeding and square-edge folding to create a spine for text so people can easily locate the document when shelved.

Security

The new Disk Overwrite Security System (DOSS) option meets the needs of today’s most security-conscious work environments by maintaining the security of any documents temporarily stored on the device’s dual 160GB hard disk drives. The DOSS option also can be configured to meet the Department of Defense or National Security Administration standards.

The Toshiba e-STUDIO901/1101/1351 series is available immediately through Toshiba’s nationwide network of dealers for a suggested list price of $39K/50K/60K respectively.
