Toshiba Contributes to the Newport Beach World TeamTennis Team Benefiting Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian

Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. (TABS) today announced that it has signed as a sponsor of the World TeamTennis (WTT) Newport Beach Breakers. The Breakers’ season will take place from July 5 to 25 at the new Breakers Stadium at Newport Beach Country Club. This team, operated by and benefiting Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian and other notable Orange County charities, is part of the WTT Pro League. The 2007 season will feature marquee appearances by tennis champions and past Breakers team members such as Maria Sharapova, Pete Sampras, John McEnroe, Venus Williams and Anna Kournikova.

The 2007 season marks the fifth year for the Newport Beach Breakers to play in the WTT Pro League, but the first operated by Hoag Hospital as a charitable endeavor. This year’s team will be led by coach Trevor Kronemann, who also is the coach for the men’s tennis team at University of California, Irvine. Playing for the Newport Beach Breakers this season will be Pete Sampras, Maria Sharapova, Michaela Pastikova, Rick Leach, Ramon Delgado and Lauren Albanese.

The Newport Beach Breakers are one of 11 nationwide teams that make up World TeamTennis and co-owned by WTT founder, Billie Jean King. The Breakers will play seven home matches in July 2007 at Breakers Stadium, at Newport Beach Country Club. The team will be managed by Newport Beach-based Hoag Hospital Foundation through the 2009 WTT season. Since its founding 32 years ago by Billie Jean King, World TeamTennis (WTT) has been reinventing the game of tennis.
