TOSHIBA AMERICA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS INC. LAUNCHES e-BRIDGE SMARTCARD FOR e-STUDIO™ PRODUCT FAMILY
New Advanced Security Peripheral Offers Flexible and Convenient Authentication System for Increased Print Security
IRVINE , California ( Jan 02, 2008 ) :
Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. (TABS) today announced the launch of the e-BRIDGE SmartCard for its popular e-STUDIO™ multifunction products (MFPs). This advanced security authentication solution allows companies to easily create printing and coping protocols with the use of a personal identity card, increasing document confidentiality while simultaneously saving time in the authentication process. Because the e-BRIDGE SmartCard is built on existing Identity Card technology, the authentication module will work with current-generation building access cards, leveraging existing security tools and protocols onto the business’ e-STUDIO fleet quickly and efficiently.
“The e-BRIDGE SmartCard answers the call from business for increased document security and privacy, while not being overly complex to deploy or use day-to-day,” said Kay Fernandez, director, Product and Solutions Marketing, TABS. “New and existing e-STUDIO customers can directly manage document security and increase printing accountability without having to refresh or replace their current MFP fleet.”
The e-BRIDGE SmartCard authentication peripheral is a two-part system that uses a contactless Identity Card reader that supports both HID iClass and MIFARE Classic access cards, minimizing training, deployment and installation time. The e-BRIDGE SmartCard identity card reader connects via a high-speed USB port and conveniently attaches to the right side of the operation console for instant access on new and existing e-STUDIO MFPs. Once enabled by the certified Toshiba service technician, administration rights are handled via the TopAccess web interface and Windows Active Directory. The e-BRIDGE SmartCard can be configured for custom levels of security, enabling or limiting user access to specific MFP functions in a single office, or for all the MFPs in a company’s fleet. The combination scanner/access card also allows for printing authorization filtering to limit businesses’ workflow needs, allowing or denying access to a specific MFP on the network based on the individual access card. Once integrated to the customer’s e-STUDIO product, the e-BRIDGE SmartCard protects against unauthorized access and enables end-user accountability for all MFP activity through the use of the access card.
Toshiba’s e-BRIDGE SmartCard is now available through Toshiba’s nationwide network of dealers for a suggested list price starting at $1,200. To find an authorized dealer in your area, please call 800-GO-TOSHIBA or visit the TABS Web site at www.copiers.toshiba.com.
