Two Toshiba Business Solutions Subsidiaries Recognized For Exceptional Contributions to Their Community

IRVINE , California   ( Jul 28, 2008 ) :

Toshiba Business Solutions (TBS) revealed today that two of its subsidiaries have won the inaugural Toshiba Corporate Social Responsibility Award: Toshiba Business Solutions-FL/GA and Toshiba Business Solutions-NY.  This newly established award is the company’s first internal honor recognizing the commitment and dedication of Toshiba’s wholly-owned businesses to improving the communities where they work and live.  In recognition, $10,000 will be granted to the local charity of each company’s choice on their behalf.

“As a global citizen, Toshiba encourages all of its companies to give back and improve our loyal community,” said Wayne Wilkinson, vice president and general manager, TBS.  “We are exceptionally proud to be able to single-out these TBS subsidiaries for their time and contributions to so many deserving organizations.  Congratulations to both outstanding winners: TBS-FL/GA and TBS-NY!”

TBS continually challenges its regional and local subsidiaries to give back to their local communities, and the Toshiba Corporate Social Responsibility award is the culmination of that ideal.  Over the course of six months, TBS branch offices document their local support through event sponsorships, financial support, employee volunteer time, coordination of fund raisers or by serving on the boards of local charities.  Once submitted, a group of TBS corporate employees review the results and single-out the company that has done the most within their local community.  Over the past six months, TBS-FL/GA and TBS-NY each participated in more than 70 local charity events, each logged over 1,500 employee volunteer hours, and donated a combined total of more than $200,000 to local charities.  TBS intends to establish the Toshiba Corporate Social Responsibility award on a semi-annual basis moving forward.

TBS-NY will be contributing its $10,000 donation to St. Joseph’s Villas of Rochester, which is an organization that supports youth, families and the community by caring for children in crisis.  TBS-FL/GA will be contributing its $10,000 donation to Veterans Helping Today’s Returning Heroes, a non-profit organization created to provide guide or service dogs and training to veterans and active military personnel who have been wounded in the global war on terrorism.
