TOSHIBA AMERICA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS INC. INTRODUCES E-BRIDGE OPEN PLATFORM CONNECTORS FOR MICROSOFT® EXCHANGE AND SHAREPOINT
Connectors are First in a Toshiba-Developed Series Aimed to Streamline Business and Increase Efficiency
IRVINE , California ( Nov 17, 2008 ) :
Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. (TABS) today announced the development and release of its e-BRIDGE Open Platform Connectors for Microsoft® (MS) Exchange and Microsoft Office SharePoint for all Toshiba Open Platform-enabled multifunction products (MFPs). This latest innovation, developed directly by Toshiba, will provide higher levels of third-party application integration with all of Toshiba’s Open Platform-enabled MFPs.
“The definition of ‘multifunction’ continues to evolve for the traditional MFP. The development of these Open Platform Connectors allows Toshiba to create more truly customized MFP solutions to meet our customers’ specific business needs,” said Joe Contreras, director, Product and Solutions Marketing, TABS. “By expanding the integration capabilities of Toshiba MFPs with value-added solution partners, we can better help our customers streamline processes and improve office efficiency and productivity. This will provide customers with reduced overall costs and an improved bottom line, an obvious concern for businesses now more than ever.”
e-BRIDGE Open Platform Connector for Microsoft Exchange
Toshiba’s e-BRIDGE Open Platform Connector for MS Exchange provides direct integration between the control panel of the Toshiba MFP and the user’s Microsoft Outlook account, providing one central location from which to seamlessly accomplish all scanning to e-mail needs. Users scan hard copy documents directly into the MFP, then access a host of e-mail options, including automatic address completion for contacts within their personal or company address books, all available directly from the Toshiba MFP control panel.
The professional appearance of MS Exchange mail remains intact, arriving at the receiver’s inbox as if coming directly from a PC, and directly transferring all messages sent from the MFP to the user’s sent folder. The organization’s security and user guidelines already established for Outlook also remain intact, providing truly seamless integration. Offering further user convenience, the innovative scan-to-draft feature means employees can scan hard-copy documents and save directly to their draft folder for future use with just two clicks on the machine.
e-BRIDGE Open Platform Connector for Microsoft SharePoint
Toshiba’s e-BRIDGE Open Platform Connector for SharePoint enables users to quickly and easily scan hard-copy documents directly into SharePoint through the Open Platform-enabled Toshiba MFP control panel. Based on standard SharePoint permissions, the connector recognizes individual users and automatically displays only those items that they have access to. Additionally, all standard SharePoint data types are supported to allow for new data to be entered whenever necessary. This Toshiba-developed connector ultimately empowers employees to collaborate more efficiently and improve workflow involving hard copy documents.
Toshiba-Developed Open Platform Technology
Administration has never been easier or more customizable than with Toshiba’s e-BRIDGE Open Platform technology. With the click of a mouse, administrators can set and deploy company-wide security rules, settings, defaults and scanning guidelines from one centralized location to their entire fleet of Toshiba’s Open Platform-enabled MFPs, providing dramatically improved control, security and efficiency.
Toshiba’s e-BRIDGE Open Platform Connectors for MS Exchange and SharePoint are the first of a series of Toshiba-developed connectors that will provide greater levels of third-party application integration for Toshiba’s Open Platform-enabled MFPs. These connectors also will meet customer needs for increasing office productivity and efficiency and reducing overall print management costs. Dealers and customers can look forward to an expansion of the Open Platform portfolio of external application software partners in the coming months. For solutions not currently supported by Toshiba-developed connectors, Toshiba offers eCopy as the connectivity add-on.
The Toshiba e-BRIDGE Open Platform Connectors for MS Exchange and SharePoint can be purchased through local Toshiba authorized dealers. Visit www.copiers.toshiba.com to search for an authorized Toshiba dealer by location.
