TOSHIBA AMERICA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS INC. RECOGNIZED FOR INNOVATIVE EMPLOYEE TRAINING AND EDUCATION
Toshiba’s Director of Education and Development Receives “Learning in Practice” Award at the Fall 2008 Chief Learning Officer Symposium
IRVINE , California ( Oct 16, 2008 ) :
Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. (TABS) proudly announced today that it has been honored with the esteemed “Learning In Practice” Gold Medal Award from Chief Learning Officer (CLO) magazine for outstanding innovations in employee training and education. The award was presented to Anthony V. Codianni, director of Education and Development for TABS, at the Fall 2008 CLO Symposium’s special awards ceremony, held on Sept. 25 at the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego, Calif.
“The ‘Learning In Practice’ awards were established to recognize transformational and visionary leaders in enterprise education,” said Norm Kamikow, president and editor in chief of Chief Learning Officer magazine. “A record number of top learning executives and solution providers were nominated by their peers this year. The winners are the industry leaders who truly champion innovation and transform it into learning and value for their organizations.”
Codianni was honored in the Learning Innovation category, receiving a Gold Award for his dedication to employee development through the Toshiba LEAD (Leadership Education And Development) program. One of seven categories within the “Learning In Practice” awards, the Innovation Award acknowledges learning executives who have successfully applied emerging technologies and/or methodologies to create a stimulating and engaging combination of content and modalities in the past year.
“In recent years, changes in both the industry, and within our company, required looking for innovative ways to address business and leadership issues,” said Codianni. “TABS’ leadership team saw the market undergo an evolution from selling product features to competitive differentiation through professional services. This trend called for a new type of leadership within TABS that could respond quickly to both the industry and to evolving customer needs, and strategically contribute to the growth of the company’s market share and revenue.”
Codianni and his Education and Development (ED) team created the Toshiba LEAD program to meet the business and employee leadership development challenges facing the 500-person management team. By encompassing segmented leadership courses for the various levels of management and areas of leadership, the program was catered to the individual needs and experience of each manager, allowing for maximum diversity and minimal education overlap, consistently delivering irresistible value to customers. LEAD Toshiba has been so successful that the ED team will be expanding this program to all 3,000+ non-management employees at TABS starting this year through a partnership with the Harvard Business School.
“It is a tremendous honor to win this award on behalf of TABS in recognition of our highly successful training program,” said Codianni. “We have worked extremely hard as an organization to develop effective training methods and programs for our employees, and to be recognized for program excellence within the Innovation category is a testament to the incredible results we have seen in terms of employee retention, enhanced productivity, program participation and overall employee satisfaction.”
All of the “Learning In Practice” award winners will be featured in a special report supplement in the December issue of CLO magazine. For more information about the Learning In Practice Awards, please visit clomedia.com/learningawards.
